    FABERGE Russian Imperial antique silver and enamel cigarette case
    with rose-cut diamonds to the clasp, a silver-gilt portrait of Peter the Great facing right; the reverse with an Imperial double-headed eagle; the portrait enhanced with a ruby cabochon. Presented in the original Faberge lined case. Hallmarked “88”, “A*H”. 160 grams overall; 8 x 9.5cm; the box 12.5 x 14cm.

  • Notes:
    Faberge Workmaster August Frederik Hollming (1854-1915), born in Finland, apprenticed in 1876, was elevated to “workmaster” in 1880, he specialised in all types of cases. For references see “Court Jeweller to the Tsars” by G. von Habsburg-Lothringen, A. von Solodkoff, page 153.
