  Australian Comfort Fund WW11 New Guinea, Hubert Charles Gibbons Collection
  Hubert Charles Gibbon's (1894-1979) personal collection of photographs, correspondence, newspaper clippings, uniform and badges from his time as Commissioner of the Australian Comforts Fund (ACF) in New Guinea in 1942-43. Includes an album Gibbons assembled of approximately 80 photographs outlining the history of the operations in New Guinea most with handwritten captions, numerous photographs of the Natives, portrait of Blamey, one of Frank Clune with Natives, typed letters signed by General Douglas MacArthur & General Thomas Blamey, three Japanese banknotes tipped-in (10 Yen & 50 Sen) + a large collection of letters received by Gibbons in appreciation of his work, a letter from Frank Clune and numerous others who benefited from the work of ACF, also correspondence between Gibbons and the ACF + Scrap album of newspaper clippings concerning New Guinea and the ACF + a copy of 'Proud Story The Official History of the Australian Comforts Fund' by Badham Jackson, Sydney, 1949 + various badges including two ACF Commissioner brass & enamel badges, The Royal Automobile Club badges, St John Ambulance Association Medallion, St John Voluntary Aid Detachment arm band etc. + Australian Military Forces Khaki Jacket. + Two framed Commissions. This collection gives an historical outline of the role of the ACF during the New Guinea Campaign in supporting the troops. It has numerous images of the 'fuzzy wuzzy angels' whose knowledge and help proved invaluable.
