    William Dobell Diary
    Winner of the 1929 "Society of Artists" travelling scholarship, 350 pounds to study in England, the diary commences June 1st 1929 with the artist"s journey from Annandale to No. 5 Wharf, Walsh Bay to embark aboard ship, containing prolific details of his experiences of ship life and various ports of call. The text is littered with small sketches, various newspaper clippings and a few small pressed flowers. Quite detailed descriptions of Colombo and his journey through the Suez & Cairo, arriving in England on 15th July. The rest of the diary contains details of his travels around England and his experiences at the Slade School of Fine Art, up until December 23rd 1929. Scattered references to other Slade school artists such as Arthur BOSCALLl (1895-1944), Frederick COVENTRY (1905-1995) and various Slade school teachers.
