  ROSA BUGGY, SOUTH AUSTRALIA 1880s
  The clever design of Duncan & Frasers "Rosa" buggy was initiated by the wife of one of the companys directors, who gave it her name. The specification required a lightweight vehicle that could be used for carrying four adults, two in the front and two who would be capable of entering the carriage at the rear and travelling facing backwards; or two adults facing forwards and two children facing forwards with the rear seat back folded over for safety, whereby entry to the rear is via the lift-up front passenger seat. The full hood covered all the seating and features full side curtains and also a centre curtain to afford privacy to the passengers when the vehicle is driven by a professional driver, for example as a taxicab. Another rear curtain completely encloses the passenger area. Various steps afford easy entry all around. This example was brought from South Australia by Mark Burton and restored by Antony Davies in Braidwood, NSW, in 2004 where it has been in regular use with both a pair and single horses since then. All structural hardware was replaced and the wheels are new with new channel and rubber tyres., The seat back trims are original and the seat squabs and aprons are new in blue leather. A correct pair of lamps are fitted and there is a carriage bell set in the drivers floor. The coachwork is entirely original but was repainted in 2004 and is raised upon Concord springs and a semi elliptic rear spring.
