finely decorated with Edwards’ typical repoussé decoration depicting sheep in Australian landscape and the base adorned with kangaroos and emus in landscape, with original gilt wash interior, Inscribed “Presented by James Gordon Esq. Of Newlands To The Apsley Border Pastoral & Agricultural Society And Awarded By Them To Adam Smith Esq. Of Broadmeadows For The Best Pen Of Five Colonial Bred Ewes. 3rd August 1864. Palmam Qui Meruit Ferat”,
