    A large and impressive carved wood figure of a Bodhisattva, Ming/Qing dynasty or later
    standing wearing a long wide sleeved robe falling in heavy folds to the bare feet, the left arm lowered the right held out to the front, the head slightly lowered with well defined features and the hair partly falling in tresses over the shoulders, a high pierced diadem centred with a seated Amitaba Buddha encircling the high chignon, traces of lacquer, gilding and coloured pigments

  • Notes:
    Condition: Overall surface wear and losses to the lacquer surface, overall chips and wear to the raised edges particularly to the drapes of the robe, some vertical cracks over the back of the head and shoulders and to the lower rear drapery and over the base, some cracks over the front chest, some losses to the waves over the base consistent with age
