  AN UNFINISHED PROJECT:
  Clearly inspired by his love of Ronald Searle’s books, Joe had done a considerable amount of work towards a book of his own. It was to be titled “It’s Raining Cats and Dogs” and this lot comprises the volume into which he placed his finished artwork, with each double page spread depicting his quirky interpretation of an English word or phrase that includes “Cat....” or “Dog....”. Some examples include “Catacomb”, “Dogs Body”, “Dog-Collar” and “Category”. In all, there are 20 illustrations.
