  period sketch book by Mary Cowper dated 1831, over 50 exquisite coloured watercolour paintings and drawings of figures, flowers, insects, fish, birds and landscapes, many signed and dated - including The Emperor and Empress of China, Chinese boat, Duck boat, Chinese bird catchers, stag beetle, praying mantis, scorpion, passionfruit flowers, Roman gladiator, etc. - most in excellent original condition. The gilt tooled dark red leather covers with some distress.
