    A Hairpin Ornament, Western Australia
    nineteenth century. A ceremonial hair ornament, Pun-Mun. Worn by men in their hair and held in hand during ceremonies. With incised totemic carving on both sides with traces of pipeclay pigment still visible. Subtle notches along entire perimeter, the ornament terminating in a stick for gripping.
