    [GEELONG INTEREST] - WILLIAM EDWARDS (attributed) sterling silver presentation cup
    inscribed “Presented To Mr. WILLIAM STERLING late deputy foreman of THE GEELONG VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE by a few of the members as a mark of their esteem, 26th Feb”y 1858”. The cup blank was manufactured by George Angell in London in 1857. The repoussé is most certainly the work of Edwards noted for his detail.
    17cm high, 230 grams.
  • Notes:
    The Geelong Volunteer Fire Brigade was formed in 1854. It was the first in Victoria outside Melbourne.
