  "In 2001 I completed a book of poetry which was to be called Chiaroscuro. Bob was generous enough to do the illustrations for that book - inspired by the poems. I went on to have a final exhibition of those poems and works together over many years, finally having a selling exhibition of the works that I was given back then. I always kept a few aside and these works represent the balance of that collection. This is the last of those images. The poems hopefully explain the imagery (or vice versa). I have included a signed copy of the poetry book with each of these images to help with the narrative but the imagery is very much stand alone," Jenny Dickerson. Bush fire The flames came quick up to the old swing about eighteen feet from the house Next door was gone in a burst of black smoke They left on Wednesday for town Said she'd had enough of the bush. Smoke and ash filled every room "put a wet hanky on your face" said my father as Mum rummaged about For insurance papers and the dog kicked up a rumpus in the yard. The things we saved squeezed in three suitcases And a pillow case "leave the furniture" he said good I hated that brown sofa. A spurt of fire leaped red into the shed where we kept the firewood. My brother worried about his tadpoles boiling Released them squirming back into the water tank we put old tennis balls in the down pipe Filled the gutters and wet down the walls But the heat dried everything. Then just as if we'd prayed - though no-one Had the wit or reverence to do so - The wind shift turned the fire back on itself and Dad put the hose on us laughing when I found a tadpole down my shirt.
