  "In 2001 I completed a book of poetry which was to be called Chiaroscuro. Bob was generous enough to do the illustrations for that book - inspired by the poems. I went on to have a final exhibition of those poems and works together over many years, finally having a selling exhibition of the works that I was given back then. I always kept a few aside and these works represent the balance of that collection. This is the last of those images. The poems hopefully explain the imagery (or vice versa). I have included a signed copy of the poetry book with each of these images to help with the narrative but the imagery is very much stand alone," Jenny Dickerson. Form Guide He sits in his usual place by the door Body too overweight for flight (Did he get as far as the flyscreen one brave night?) Now he waits incessant just inside. Staring at the paper he holds Folded to view the racing guide. Not reading, hoping for a sign Today's "sure thing" to illuminate the page And etch a name in his suspended mind So he can ring the TAB and bet his wage. Sometimes he watches cars that pass the house And ponders whether the latest models Are worth the money, or should he chance another season with the Holden? Why on earth get rid of a perfectly good car for no reason? If his cousin Ed could look at just half a dozen minor spots of rust and maybe do the plugs, she'd make another trip. Too early yet to designate her to the tip. He glances on the sodden lawn with beds edged neat in grey concrete And wonders if the rain will go away Or if his wife, who has swollen feet, Will be home before his race is on the radio.
