  In the Post World War 2 era the United Kingdom enjoyed prosperity in many quarters of society and manufacturing saw the middle-class affording quality motorcars. The Riley RM Series of executive car was built from 1945 to 1955 and is atypical of the sedan that had evolved from the pre-war vintage saloons and sports racing era of development. The RM was the last model developed independently by Riley prior to the 1952 merger of Riley's owner, Nuffield, with Austin to form BMC. These RM models were built in Abingdon and marketed as the Riley RMA 1.5-Litre and the Riley RMB 2.5-Litre. The RMB saloon was designed to carry the larger 2.5-litre 'big four' engines with hemispherical combustion chambers and twin camshafts mounted high at the sides of the cylinder block. Twin SU carburettors were fitted and the top speed was 95 mph (153 km/h) when new. 6,900 Riley RMBs were built. This proud example on offer was purchased by the vendor in November 2008 from the Collectable Cars auction in Cobden, Southwest of Melbourne. The vehicle registration Transfer Document lists the previous owner as Mr.Cornelius Van Leerdam of Cobden. Since its acquisition, the vendor has caringly had the car tuned and serviced; the carburettors rebuilt; radiator pressure tested; suspension overhauled and non-standard seatbelts were installed. The tyres were replaced with Avons. This matching number car is presented in cream with a red leather interior. It has been garaged and stored under cover. This Riley has participated in Riley Club Rallies but other than that has done little motoring in recent years. This vehicle will be sold unregistered.
