Mark Fogarty is Australia’s most experienced motor sport journalist. As a writer and broadcaster, ‘Foges’ has covered racing around the world at the highest levels and won many awards for his incisive reporting. He has also excelled internationally as a motoring writer. Highly respected, Fogarty remains at the forefront of his field, breaking big news and talking to the stars on his popular weekly podcast. He is the reigning Motorsport Australia Journalist Of The Year.
Russell ’Scott' Mackay was a passionate and respected Australian motorsport historian, his archive of books, magazines, race programs and memorabilia are a literal treasure trove of amazing material amassed over many years.
Based in Cardross, 15 kilometres southeast of Mildura, Mackay became a trusted resource for motorsport journalists and record-keepers, regularly assisting the Chevron Publishing Group’s Bathurst ’The Great Race’ book team and its Australian Muscle Car Magazine writers and staff, as well as Aaron Noonan’s V8 Sleuth team and its ongoing work documenting the history of the sport.
“I really miss seeing ‘from Scott Mackay’ pop up on my email every few days with his latest findings on various motorsport topics of interest", says Noonan.
"He was so passionate about finding those missing nuggets of golden information that often I’d get notes from him with all sorts of details he’d dug up. Scott truly took ’sleuthing’ to a whole new level and we’re all the poorer for his passing.”
A former volunteer crew member for privateer Scotty Taylor at the Bathurst 1000, Mackay’s passion and interest in the sport was far and wide. He regularly poured over statistics and old race results, contacting drivers and identities from the past to find previous missing details and fill gaps in the sport’s history.
Even up until a couple months before his untimely passing at age 58, Mackay had been engaged to regularly assist the V8 Sleuth website and book publication team. They considered Scott to be a trusted and leading Australian racing historian, able to source information about races and events from his collection of rare literature and event programmes.
Mackay’s passion for Australian motorsport lives on via this amazing and extensive collection of motorsport literature, collected over a lifetime, and his family are enthusiastic that it can soon be enjoyed and appreciated by the new custodians who share his passion

This is a timed online auction with Lot 1 closing at 1.05pm on Sunday 16th July 2023, and subsequent lots at 1 minute intervals, with the last lot concluding at 8pm.
