    GIBSON AUCTIONS' INTRODUCTION:

The private collection of prominent businessman and founder of the Chemist Warehouse and MyChemist empire, Sam Gance, is set to be auctioned off on Sunday, April 30th, kicking off at 2 pm. Boasting an impressive array of curated items featuring 18th-century furniture, remarkable antique decorative arts & furnishings, and contemporary art collected over 35 years. One of the collection highlights is a prominent painting by Contemporary artist Imants Tillers (Born 1950), who has represented Australia in the Venice Biennale and whose highly coveted multi-panel paintings are held in private and public museum collections nationwide.

The auction contains many notable furnishings from decedent 19th-century giltwood mirrors, wrought iron chandeliers and a pair of austere Louis XV walnut wing back armchairs. Not to be overlooked are the subtle yet impressive duo of 19th-century French guéridons with marble tops. Equally remarkable is the Charles II plank top refectory table dating from the late 17th century, which commands a massive length of over 3.5 meters. The collections objet d’art showpieces include a couple of graceful cast bronze cranes in the Meiji Style as well as a set of six Han dynasty jars that are truly captivating and highly sought-after by collectors.
