Lot Description:Victoria c.1906 Baldwin Steam Locomotive plus tender containing timber
(total size 200x38x50mm), black & brown livery with gold plated trim, 2-6-0 wheel configuration, built by Baldwin Locomotive Works (Philadelphia) for the McIvor Timber and Firewood Company for use on their private 5ft 3in broad gauge tramway, which branched off the Wallan-Bendigo cross country line at Tooborac, near Heathcote, Victoria. -
Notes:[The company commenced operations in 1906, their main product being firewood for the Bendigo and Melbourne markets. They purchased two American Baldwin 2-6-0s (named “Major” & “McIvor”) and later an ex Victoria Railways ‘W’ class 4-6-0 locomotive to work the tramway. The company ceased operations in 1927.]
