Lot Description:A Japanese Tea Bowl, Chawan, Horo Ichiro b. 1952, Grey or Mouse Shino Mino-Seto Region, Japan, 20th Century
Gray or Mouse Shino , A wheel-thrown cylindrical bowl with a grass motif. The grass motif was created in three stages: first, an iron oxide wash to the exterior sides and the interior; second, the grass motif was carved through the iron oxide exposing the raw claw; and third, the chawa was dipped in a white Shino glaze.Horo Ichino is a highly regarded Mino potter who specializes in traditional tea wares made using traditional techniques.
