  Perforated at one end, decorated on one side, plain on the other. These stones have a variety of names incl. display-exchange stone, sacred stone & symbolic stone. The stone is a type of slate. Pigments incl. red & white mineral pigments & a black pigment from a berry. (Culture of Stone: Sacred and Profane Uses of Stone amongst the Dani, O W Hampton, Texas A and M University Press, 1999.
