Lot Description:Book: 'The Dunera Affair: A Documentary Resource Book, edited by Paul R Bartrop with Gabrielle Eisen
Incl. letters from Walter (Heinz Edgar) Kantorowicz a German Jewish refugee sent from Britain to Australia as an internee on the HMT Dunera arriving at Darling Harbour, Sydney on 6th September, 1940. Four Prisoner of War folding letterettes & two envelopes without letters. One of the letterettes is written in German & the other three in English. One of the letterettes in English begins 'Dear Sisters, although Mr Churchill & Mr Morrison have repeatedly declared that regrettable mistakes.' All are addressed to either Gerda or Gerda & Alice Krohn, Waverley, Sydney, 1940 & 1941 & have the appropriate Prisoner of War & Censor marks & date stamps from Hay & Camp 7 (Orange). -
