Lot Description:4 Photographs New South Wales Militia in Camp Scenes
Three of the images are (10x6cm) & one is (13x16.5cm). They are all mounted on board. The larger image has an imprint lower right Laker & Co 49 Goulburn St, Sydney. c1900. Incl. a leather covered booklet (22cmx17cm), of about 20 pages Sydney: Unveiling of Permanent Memorial In The New South Wales Legislative Assembly Chamber to the Late Lieutenant-Colonel George Frederick Braund MLA (Member for Armidale) & Sergeant Edward Rennix Larkin M L A (Member for Willoughby) Who Fell In Action At The Dardanelles, May, 1915, by the Speaker (The Hon R.D. Meagher) on Tuesday, 30th November, 1915, at 12 noon. The Premier Mr Holman: in part 'This is an occasion unprecedented in the history of this Chamber & in the political history of Australia.' Mr Speaker: in part 'Gentleman, I have caused a beautiful bronze monument,' & 'This task is entrusted to Mr James Castle, of this city, who is responsible for the finest bronze memorials in Australia,' W A Gullick, Government Printer, 1916. -
