    Nicolai Mitchoutouchkine Collection, Vanuatu (shell ring guides); BL Hornshaw (1878-1937) Collection (kap kap bases) Hornshaw was an avid collector of Pacific & Australian Aboriginal Artefacts, he received many of his pieces from people who lived & worked in the Pacific in the late 19th Century
  • Notes:
    These were used to get the middle hole started in a large piece of fossilised tridacna shell, used in the Solomon Islands as important wealth objects, used by a specialist artist with friction, bamboo & sand to cut the initial hole
