    presentation bell form inkwell with mounted cap badge engraved to body "Presented to the Sergeants Mess 2nd Battalion Irish Guards. By Major A.FL. Gordon. DSO.M.C. The Surmounted Cap Badge Belonged to The Late Captain L.R. Hargreaves, M.C. Irish Guards Killed in action 25th September 1916". (LESBOEUFS Battle of the Somme)

    Sergeants Mess Irish Guards partial sale of collection. Silver marks London 1937. With original British army inventory stickers to base.

    Capt. LR Hargreaves M.C. played 1st class cricket for Hampshire and his mother was Alice Hargreaves nee Liddell the inspiration for Lewis Caroll's Alice in wonderland.
