Large framed Australian coat-of-arms, worked in wool by William Duncan of Charters Towers. Original gilt frame, 71 x 78cm overall -
Notes:The four quadrants of the shield (bale of wheat, merino sheep, 3-masted sailing ship & gold minehead) are surrounded by Australian birds sitting amongst a Scottish thistle, an English rose and an Irish shamrock with a kangaroo at left and an emu at right supporting two white ensigns with a rising sun at centre top and the harp of Erin at the base.
