• Notes:
  The German Kaiser Wilhelm is depicted standing on the shoulders of Sultan Mehmet V, who is sinking in “the reeking pit of war”. Dancey was chief cartoonist on Melbourne Punch from 1898 until 1919. Examples of his work are held in the National Library of Australia collection.
