Lot Description:A Sepik Ancestral Bust, Papua New Guinea
A beautifully carved and painted figural head representing a spirit and/or ancestor, boasting a characteristically elongated form and finely delineated visage with bold features including protruding hemispherical eyes and a long, straight nose, the surfaces painted with stylized concentric circular motifs in orange and cream hues. A wonderful sculptural work from this spiritually rich island culture on a square, black mount.
