Lot Description:A 19th Century Crocodile Jaw Bone Dagger, Asmat People, South West Papua
on custom-made stand. This dagger is fashioned from the jaw bone of a very large crocodile, the woven handle section is decorated with Croix seeds and Cassowary feathers. It presents a deep old patina with evidence of use for generations. This type of dagger was used to kill and capture enemies. The dagger was a family heirloom imbued with the power of their ancestors who used this piece
