Notes:Printmaker Simon Cooper completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking in 1988 and a Graduate Diploma in Fine Arts in 1990 from the Victorian College of the Arts. He has exhibited primarily in Melbourne and Sydney, however has been involved in many group exhibitions including internationally in Korea and London. Simon is a previous winner of the Henry Worland Print Award and the City of Hobart Art Prize, both in 1997. His academic appointments include associate lecturer in printmaking at the University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba in 1999, lecturer in printmaking at the Victorian College of the Arts from 1999 to 2001 and senior lecturer and head of printmaking at the National Art School in Sydney since 2001. Simon is now Head of Studies at the National Art School, Sydney. His work is held by the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra; the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney and several university and regional art collections. His work was featured in Sasha Grishin’s seminal text ‘Australian Printmaking in the 1990s’ published in 1996. Simon is represented by Australian Galleries.
