  Table top wooden chest decorated with inlay and marquetry, with fittings, strap hinges and corner supports. Two doors open to six fitted draers, and one drawer below. Associated documentation includes supporting letter which informs.."This cabinet was a gift from the Emperor of Japan, whose son, a cadet in the Imperial Japanese Navy, was studying under my grandfather who at that time was Tutor of Navigation and Nautical Astronomy at Greenwich Royal Naval College...." (As inspected: some distortion of corner seams). Height 43cm Width 48cm Depth 28cm approx.
