Octavo, contemporary vellum boards (upper board detached, boards rubbed and lacking backstrip); upper board inscribed “Railway Hotel Swan Street Richmond Victoria Australia from 21 Novmbr 1870 to 12 April 1872 by H.A. Dickmann. Proprietor Book No.5. Marbled endpapers and edges, 173 double pages.
Notes:

A fascinating primary source for the study of Melbourne’s hotel trade in the early post-gold rush period. The pub, which still stands is today known as the Vaucluse Hotel and is a heritage listed building.
