Lot Description:[VAN DIEMEN’S LAND] Oct.1844 & Jan.1853 vellum documents summarising 2 cases brought to the court
the first signed by THOMAS HORNE [Judge, MP & Solicitor-General]; the latter signed by VALENTINE FLEMING [Judge, Chief Justice, MP & Solicitor-General]. Both cases involve larceny (“two shirts of the value of two shillings, one pair of stockings of the value of one shilling & sixpence & one waist-coat of the value of one shilling”) the sentence in the latter case being “hard labor in chains for two years”; the earlier case was dismissed.
