  first one headed 4 months active service in South Africa and first dated 1877, note: incomplete, stops after 56 pages of writing, front cover has hand written sketch of the ship in which he left England for South Africa 'RMS Balmoral Castle', all appears to have been written by Robert Welby, an interesting and extensive account of his time in the provenances, also comes with an antique notebook full of 100 notes by a schoolboy at Sydney High School, Edward Welby, presumed descendant of Robert, dated 1908-09
