    A Dayak Sword
    with carved bone handle on finely wrought steel blade incorporating intricate barbed protrusions with wooden scabbard. A "Mandau" is the typical sword used in headhunting. The con caved, con-curved blade is inlaid with brass figures of "Mata Kalong" (four mirrored large S-shapes near the hilt) and "Mata Joh" (S-shaped figures), the hilt is bone, carved in a stylised bear form and "Aso" figures. Rattan bound and bone inlaid scabbard.. Dayak people, Borneo, Indonesia
