Lot Description:A fine Tibetan silver ritual ewer, late 19th century
one cartouche well repoussé on each side, one with "the four companions" and the other with "the wise old man"; body well engraved with foliated scrolls; the handle cast in the form of an elongated dragon and the spout emerges from a Makara with a coral inlaid on the top; the lid circled with lotus petals and capped with "wish-fulfilling jewels"

Notes:This ritual silver ewer would have formed part of a ritual ceremonial libation set. It would likely have been used in altar rituals to make offerings of sacred water or wine.
