with presentation engraving to 2 sides "1891 Royal Military Tournament 1st Prize Riding & Jumping ... G.B. Jefferson Victorian Mounted Rifles", hallmarked London 1890 (Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co (William Gibson & John Lawrence Langman)), 22cm high, 318 grams The Victorian Mounted Rifles (VMR) was a regiment composed of Australian forces that served in the Second Boer War. In 1891 under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Tom Price, members including Pte G.B. Jefferson (two officers and ten men) sailed from Williamstown on the "RMS Ballarat" to the UK to attend the Royal Military Tournament. -
