The “Butheroe” sideboard, Early Australian cedar six legged sideboard, Sydney, circa 1820
Family history purports it was originally a wedding gift from Governor Lachlan Macquarie to John Nevell and Elizabeth Vincent, daughter of James Vincent (carpenter at Windsor). It was then moved by dray across the Blue Mountains to Kelso near Bathurst and then on to Butheroe a family property between Coolah and the Castlereagh River; hence the name. It resided there until 1870 when it was moved to the N.S.W. property of Flatlands. It remained there until 1962 and was then passed on to William Vincent Nevell and moved to “Warrah” near Carwell. It was then passed to the current owner a member of the Vincent Nevell family in the Coffs Harbour region of N.S.W.
