    CONVICTS & GOVERNOR PHILIP: THE LONDON CHRONICLE, December 22-24 & 24-26, 1789
    the first edition carries a report regarding the launch of the new ship Discovery, to be commanded by Captain Roberts; another, reporting on the delivery of 100 more convicts from Newgate prison, “to be taken to the hulks, in order to wait their sentence of transportation.” The second edition carries a lengthy review of the newly published “The Voyage of Governor Philip to Botany Bay; with an Account of the Establishment of the Coloies of Port Jackson and Norfolk Island, compiled from authentic Papers, which have been obtained from several Departments.” “...At the very first landing of Governor Philip on the shore of Botany Bay, an interview with the natives took place. They were all armed, but on seeing the Governor approach with signs of friendship, alone and unarmed, they readily returned his confidence, by laying down their weapons....”; also, much news from France and India. (2 editions).
