    Waratah House etching signed 'Sydney Long' lower right; inscribed 'Waratah House' lower centre; inscribed '5/60' lower left Note: This etching depicts Simpson's Folly or Waratah House, as it was later known, a historic home at Mayfield in Newcastle. It was originally built by a Mr Simpson, the Collector of Customs at Newcastle, who was granted land in that area in 1831. The home became the property of BHP and was demolished by the company in 1930s to make way for a pipe-making plant. The current work is accompanied by several articles regarding the history of the home.
