Lot Description:1936 BERLIN OLYMPIC TORCH (first Olympic Torch)
made from steel by Krupp, designed by Carl Diem, comprising shaft with handguard, 27cm tall. Legend around top "* ALS DANK DEM TRAGER */ ORGANISATIONS- KOMITEE FUR DIE XI. OLYMPIADE BERLIN 1936", torch run itinerary etched on handle with legend "FACKEL-STAFFEL-LAUF/ OLYMPIA-BERLIN/ 1936". The first torch relay covered a distance of 3075 km from Olympia to Berlin, crossing seven countries in 11 days & 12 nights, by 3075 runners. -
