  • Notes:
In the year 2000 BMW introduced the E46 M3 sporting car developed by the legendary in-house motorsport division. The model was released in two body styles – the 2-door coupe and 2-door convertible. The M3 Coupe benefited from BMW's newly-developed naturally aspirated 3.2L S54 engine which delivered a satisfying 343 PS and 273 lb-ft. of torque. The new technology was teamed with either an innovative SMG Drivelogic transmission, featuring steering wheel-mounted paddle shift or a new 6-speed gearbox. The engine had a redline of 8,000 rpm. Further upgrades to the standard 3 Series cars included improved handling, suspension and brakes, along with the aerodynamic body shape, lightweight components and interior styling with the tri-colour "M" for Motorsport emblem, which itself has become a symbol of high performance. The unit construction steel body/chassis structure, utilising aluminium skin panelling and the front engine, rear-wheel drive combination became yet another success story for the sporting marque. BMWs successes in motorsport led to the further development and release of the uber CSL version. The model was discontinued in 2006, making room for the 4th generation BMW M3 a year later. In 2009, Road and Track magazine announced the 2006 M3 with the SMG transmission as its favourite sports car of all time. This exceptional 6-speed SMG II manual paddle shift coupe was purchased new by Lyndon Reynolds from Hobart Autohaus in Tasmania on 17 April 2003 and first registered on 13 June of that year. This car changed hands in 2004 before it was purchased in 2005 from Autohaus by The Late Geoff Deacon, a BMW enthusiast who had enjoyed several sports models over many years. Sold with original stamped service and warranty books from Autohaus, this immaculately maintained car presents in Titansilber Metallic silver with red leather interior, having covered a mere 36,400 KMs from new. This example on offer is a true collector’s car of tomorrow.
