  Len Castle large slab form vase
  mildly swollen square form body, the open rectangular neck with flat top rim, the tenmoku glaze with dominant dark tone, dark red/brown showing through, chun overglaze to the shoulder with dribbled effects in pale blue tone. Impressed maker’s mark to base. 300 x 200 x 350.
• Provenance:
  From the collection of Jack Smith. Jack grew up in 1940s and 50s Grey Lynn with the Castle’s as his near neighbour. Jack appreciated the arts community, a builder and yachtie, he kept contact with Len and was a regular supporter. Part of Jack’s collection was sold previously at Cordy’s in March 2010.
