• Lot Description:
  Four Foley USSCo. cups, saucers and plates reputedly from the ‘Niagra’
  traditionally decorated with blue flag logo, decorative blue gilt and turquoise jewelled borders, the set in good condition, minor loss to the cobalt enamel.
• Provenance:
  Purchased from Keith Rodgers, a crew member of the ‘Claymore’, c.2005.
• Notes:
  The Claymore was one of the support ships salvaging the gold from the sunken ‘Niagara’ after she struck a mine on 19 June 1940 laid by the German auxiliary cruiser Orion.
