  • Notes:
Easu Nelson was born around the year 1958. His paintings predominantly depict his country; the Utopia region. In wildflower dreaming the artist pays homage to the spirit of the flowers. The transformation of the land means new growth and regeneration and in particular, the renewed bush tucker necessary for survival. The region of Utopia has a harsh climate, where the summers are hot with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. In contrast the winter nights are freezing cold with frosts that occur from late May to early September. When in drought the vegetation is sparse and the only living plants are the Spinifex and the Mulga shrubs, which appear withered and dying. After a fall of rain, the landscape will completely change. The dried out Spinifex will flower and resemble a field of wheat, while the Mulga shrub will produce green dense foliage and masses of bright yellow flowers. Growing amongst these plants there will be a profusion of wildflowers that will completely transform the land.
