    A John Broadwood Pianoforte, 1802
    the square form pale mahogany case with ebonywood stringing throughout, inscribed '1802 John Broadwood and Sons, Makers to his Majesty and the Princesses, Great Pulteney Street, Golden Square London.'
    164cm Wide, 60cm Deep, 82cm High
  • Provenance:
    This Piano was purchased in London thirty years ago from a dealer in musical intruments. It has recently been serviced by First Craft Piano Tuners.
  • Notes:
    The pianoforte was the favoured instrument to be played in the homes of the English gentry, usually by the female members to entertain guests. The wives of Wellington and Nelson played this instrument. It is quite interesting to note that in the movie "The Piano" directed by Jane Campion a similar instrument was used to great dramatic effect
