Lot Description:Historically Important Cased 1879 William Tranter C/F Revolver
455 or 450 Cal; 6 shot fluted cylinder; 156mm (6 1/8") oct barrel; lhs of frame marked TRANTER'S PATENT 4212; sml floral emblem engraved to lhs barrel catch; g. profiles & clear markings; soft brown patina with traces of blue in protected areas to barrel & frame; 60% blue to cylinder; pr of vg chequered walnut grips with lanyard loop to the butt cap; shield shape silver wrist escutcheon presentation reads USED IN AN ATTEMPT TO ASSASINATE THE LATE MR JUSTICE LAWSON IN DUBLIN IN THE YEAR 1882. Presented in its orig screw top, oak case; partitioned & lined in blue cloth; with glass oil bottle, cartridge magazine & case key. A good historical item, particularly for the Irish collector. -
