Lot Description:Cased Pr Joseph Manton ½ Stocked Flintlock Duelling Pistols
38 bore; 10” oct barrels with platinum bands & Joseph Manton patent poincion to breeches; silver blade front sights, fixed notched rear sights at the tangs; locks marked JOSEPH MANTON, LONDON with foliate & sunburst engravings; fitted with bolted safeties, swan necked cocks, rain proof pans & platinum vents; plain pineapple finial t/guards; g. profiles with wear to lock address; soft grey patina & distinctive damascus patterns to barrels; dark grey patina to locks & fittings with sml areas of fine pitting to locks; brown finish to t/guards; g. stocks with wear to chequered butts; complete with rods; gwo & f to g cond. Presented in their orig mahogany case with oblong brass handle; some partitioning loose; lined in green baize, soiled & showing wear; complete with mallet, 3 way compartment flask, pincer mould, turn screw & powder measure. A set of duellers from a famous maker that would grade up. C.1815. -
