c.1872. Gold miner, businessman, photographer & politician. In 1872 he found the largest gold speciman at Hill End "The Holtermann Nugget." Photograph signed in sepia ink, with studio stamp verso. "American & Australasian Photographic Coy; Hill End." (Possibly a publicity image after his gold find.)
