Lot Description:Mounted photo of Melbourne, circa 1862
inscribed (on mount below): Exhibition, Hospital, Library, Jail
24.5 x 36cm -
Notes:The image, by an unknown photographer, features Astley’s Amphitheatre (name painted-out on roof) in the foreground. This places the view as being from Spring Street at the corner of Little Bourke Street; Astley’s later became the first Princess Theatre. Also shown are the Victoria Coal & Wood Depot and Carr & Son., Upholsterers.
