  Terry, Frederick C. Landscape Scenery Illustrating Sydney, Paramatta, Richmond, Maitland, Windsor
  and Port Jackson, New South Wales. Oblong quarto, with title and 38 engraved plates by F.C. Terry; in the original ornately gilt-decorated red morocco-grain cloth, “Australian Keepsake 1855” in gilt on the front board, all edges gilt, Sydney and Melbourne, Sands and Kenny, 1855 (but December, 1854).
• Notes:
  First edition of Terry’s well-known series of delicate vignette views of Sydney scenes. This is the first issue, with the errata slip dated December 23, 1854, that is present only in the earliest copies issued. John Sands, an enterprising English emigrant, was the first to recognise the potential market for popular books of Australian views. His first venture in the field was in 1854 when he commissioned a series of landscape views of Sydney and the surrounding districts from Frederick Terry and had them engraved in England for publication and sale in Australia. In December 1854 Sands was advertising the Australian Keepsake for sale at twenty-five shillings. For some unknown reason Sands had 39 plates prepared but included only 38 of these in the published copies. Ferguson, 15440a (ill-described); Wantrup, 259a and pp. 332-3 (q.v.).
