• Lot Description:
  Earle, Augustus (illustrated by) and Robert Burford. Description of a View of the Town of Sydney
  New South Wales, the Harbour of Port Jackson, and surrounding country; now exhibiting in the Panorama, Leicester-Square. Painted by the Proprietor, Robert Burford. Octavo, with a folding engraved frontispiece panoramic view of Sydney, without the inserted advertisement leaf found in some copies, sewn in original(?) plain wrappers, in a slipcase, Mackaness copy. London, J. and C. Adlard, 1829.
• Notes:
  First edition: a detailed description and reproduction of Burford’s panorama of Sydney, exhibited at his premises in London in 1829. In 1827 Augustus Earle had painted a panoramic series of watercolours of Sydney from Palmer’s Hill which he sent to Burford who prepared a large scale version for public display at his famous Panorama in the Strand.
