    Five early metal Buddha Votives, Burma, 18th Century, [5]
    all of the same design, Buddha sitting under the Bohdi Tree at the moment of enlightenmentvotives were made & used in Buddhist Communities to show devotion & earn merit, they were made in bronze moulds & after being stamped were left to sun dry. When dry they were often hand painted with lacquer & gold or silver leaf, when finished they were used to fill up Stupa (sacred Buddhist monuments). These Votives known as Tsa Tsa in Tibet were also used in funerary practices for the deceased
